1. Basingstoke Advocacy Scheme, a local Charity that has been providing advocacy support for over 10 years to local residents, particularly those with mental health problems, is to launch a new advocacy support scheme for all “over 65s.”
Starting in January, residents in the Basingstoke and Deane Council area who need an advocate to speak for them on any issue, including benefit entitlement, housing issues, debt problems, employment problems, utility suppliers and general correspondence will receive support.

2. BAS is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract, from Hampshire County Council, to provide Mental Health Advocacy for non-detained ( non-sectioned ) clients, throughout North,
and North-east, Hampshire. This area includes:
- Hart Borough Council
- Rushmoor Borough Council
- Alton & Bordon
- Andover
- Basingstoke & Deane
This service will be available from 1st April 2009.
